GREAT BOOKS
Brett Dwyer writes:
A great example of how the passion to make a meaningful differences to others can lead to a really successful business.
This is the story of Bruce Poon Tip and the creation of G Adventures, a world leader in adventure travel. (Warning: If you read the book all you will want to do is book an adventure holiday).
A driving passion of his was the prosperity of the communities in which his tours were run. He wanted to enable the locals to be enriched by the tourism coming to their towns. He’d help them set up locally owned and run businesses to service and profit from his tourist customers. A win/win; Bruce’s customers got an incredibly authentic experience, while the local communities would gain the financial resources to build schools, access to clean food and water etc. It’s really inspiring to see how much difference can be made with a noble purpose.

Great book, easy to read. Would’ve been nice to see some comments about why he made some of the tough decisions. I liked the earlier chapters about his life story but really enjoyed the middle and end where he focused on his business principles. I would love to see Looptail 2.0 to see how he’s tackled the challenges in the travel industry over the past few years (and next couple of years) and how he’s had to adapt his leadership.
